Hey Guys Hey: Recap

I just want you to know that I am having a really unique relationship with my guests on my new podcast Hey Guys Hey. I never thought that I would have such a strong connection with some of my guests. All those years that I wrote for magazines I had the opportunity to interview the masters of the universe and always had very specific questions because I wanted a specific takeaway. When I was at Elle Accessories I used the Proust questionnaire as a template for all of my interviews in order to disarm my esteemed interviewees.

My first interview was with Jean Godfrey June, who was the beauty director at Elle Magazine when I was at Elle Accessories. Obviously, we had a very special relationship because I was so new to the industry and she was so nurturing to my burgeoning career. She made me the first blogger, ever. I wrote for Elle.com in 1995.

Since starting my podcast, it only felt fitting for it to commence with Jean. I found my stride and instead of creating a list of questions I just started listening to my guests and having real conversations, no need for Proust.

Nick Wooster was so incredible. From talking about his journey through addiction and clueing me into all of his incredible work, as design director of such notables as Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren.

Veronique Gabai has been a loyal friend and started my career with paid partnerships. I love smelling delicious and learning about women who have taken a leap of faith and started new careers later on in life.

Bobbi Brown was the first makeup artist to touch my face. It was so cool to hear about her new clean beauty line Jones Road. You have to order it right now!!!

Cynthia McFadden is a longtime and one of my dearest friends. We met at our children’s preschool in New York City–we have very special bond because of our kids. We even went to Disney together (we fought over Mickey).

I just want you guys to know that I know podcasts continue to rise in popularity. But, I am getting so much more out of this podcast. I am learning so much from all of these people that I thought I knew everything about. With each episode, I find myself learning more and more about my friends and I enjoy it as much as I hope you all are. Its been a really special experience and I look forward to every podcast.

Thank you so much for this opportunity. I am really grateful for the time I’m spending with my new friends and I am so excited to introduce more of them to you!
