The New York amfAR Gala is the annual kick off to the Fall/Winter Fashion Week season. Always a stylish soirée benefiting a cause close to my heart, I enjoy getting dressed up and heading downtown to support HIV research.
The inspiration for this outfit all started with the nail polish. Usually you chose your lacquer to match your dress, but I did things in reverse on Wednesday night.
I had Tom Ford’s incandescent color in my mind all day. I love the blush-toned shimmer to add sparkle to a winter’s night, or in this case give a black dress a dash of glamour. I’d wear this color all year round as it translates seamlessly into spring and summer evenings – match to any vibrant hue and you’ve got a chic evening look to go.
You can see the somewhat hectic state of my bathroom as I got ready that evening. True to my love for Tom, I used TF makeup for a glowing, flawless foundation and went with a nude lip.
The black plunging dress is by one of my New York Fashion Week favorites, Jill Stuart. I finished off the look with Azzedine Alaia strappy heels and a snakeskin clutch.
