When it comes to my hair, I’m normally a pretty low-maintenance girl: I either walk out with wet hair or use Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray as a dry shampoo when I can’t be bothered. But when I want to go glam, I go for a blow out. I like soft, effortless waves that fall around the face – we call it “model off duty” hair because it seems like it just happened perfectly without much coiffing.
I figured I’d share my secrets with you and asked one of my favorite stylists, Bradley Irion at Artists by Timothy Priano, to dish on how to get my signature beach girl style.
On damp hair, work through your favorite hair treatment oil. Flip your hair upside down rough dry it.
Once the hair is dry, piece the hair in sections and take a quail egg sized dollop of mousse (I prefer Pureology Mousse), working it through with a large round brush. Blow dry the hair for a nice finish. Next, wind the hair into a large barrel pin curl and clip it. Work around the head – don’t have all the curls going the same way – layer them forwards and backwards for a sophisticated wave pattern.
Once the hair is cooled, drop out the curls in sections, bottom to top. Lightly back comb and brush through until you’re happy with how it looks, then use a light hairspray to seal the deal.
Another look you prep the hair the same way as before but run a flat iron randomly through the ends of the hair for a more daytime urban texture. Deep side parts are a great way to transition from you day to evening look.
